After a freak car accident leaves him paralysed, Grey Trace Logan Marshall-Green is forced to sit and watch helplessly as his wife is murdered right in front of him. With his life in ruins, Grey is approached by wealthy inventor Eron Harrison Gilbertson who offers to give him a new life by implanting him with Stem, a sophisticated artificial intelligence technology which will improve every aspect of his physical and mental ability.
